Good Poll, Bad Poll

With 15 days until the election, both sides got some news to celebrate.  The latest WSJ/NBC News poll shows Trump’s job approval numbers up while the Democrats continue to maintain their lead on the generic ballot.

President Trump’s job-approval rating jumped to 47%, the highest level he has seen in office, up from 44% in September.  Trump’s disapproval also dropped under 50% to 49% an improvement of 3 from September.

Democrats still lead on the question of which party should control Congress. Among poll respondents identified as likely voters, 50% prefer Democrats, while 41% prefer Republican control, about the same as in last month’s poll.

The poll also saw a record high two thirds of registered voters who showed a high level of interest in the election…

Yeah, Science

The New York Times and other liberals are apparently very upset at the Trump administration.

The Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological and immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth

The Times considers this the most “drastic move yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law.”

Many have pointed out that for the longest time the argument from many on the left was that gender was a social construct and sex was biological.  Now we are being told that both gender and sex are social constructs.

I have to admit, science gets a lot more difficult when you ignore the science parts of it…

Illegals Vs Trump 2018

As the caravan of immigrants making their way to the United States swelled to over 5,000 people we also the importance of the issue in the midterm elections swell as well.

Axios reports that when it comes to the issue of immigration the GOP sees it as a turnout machine.

Democrats worry immigration is an emotional and powerful issue that drives Republican voters to the polls, especially with stories like the undocumented immigrant accused of killing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts.”

As Axios points out, “immigration and stoking fear about Mexican immigrants propelled Trump to the White House in 2016, so he’s forcing the GOP back into that conversation.”

It’s crazy enough that it just might work.  I guess we’ll find out in 15 days…
